Why the change? Since this directory project began three years ago, the number of locations of safer, non- or low-chlorine pools listed here has expanded to the point that it's difficult to scan for locations in the blog format. The new directory will make it easier to find pools in your area.

There's also St Kilda Sea Baths with a 25m sea water pool (they do ozonate it and add chlorine to it though).

1.North Sydney Olympic Pool, located in Milsons Point: northern side of Sydney Harbour, at the foot of the Harbour Bridge. Spectacular views. Salt/ozone. Heated. Open year round.
2. Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool: Mrs. Macquaries Rd, The Domain, Sydney. Set at the harbour's edge in a park, walk from Sydney's CBD or Circular Quay through the Royal Botanic Gardens in 10 mins. Salt. Heated. Open Aug-Apr (or Sept-May in 2007, during trials for an extended season).
3. Sea Baths: a great many all along the Eastern seaboard (sorry, am unfamiliar with other areas). Sea-water. Open year-round. Unheated!!
The Salt Water Pools that are located near the eastern beach's are as follows, please note these are not heated

You won't find any non-chlorine commercial(and legal)pools in Australia.
The Federal Government Agency, The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority, who have jurisdiction over the State Health Departments, specifies that a minimum of 1.0 part per million (ppm) of free chlorine should be maintained in the water.
As a result most operators dose several times this level to be in compliance in case there is a surprise inspection.
The formation of nasty 'chlorine smells' is inevitable.
Incidentally, 'saltwater pools' still have chlorine in them. Saltwater chlorinators convert the salt into chlorine by electrolysis.
the Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre in New Zealand also uses ozone, in addition to chlorine for its main pool (not sure about the other pools) it is a 10 lane (so 25m wide) 50m pool ranging from 1.2m to 5 m in depth
The Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre in Ultimo is a 50 metre indoor pool complex (with learn-to-swim training pool for kids as well) that uses UV light treatment, sand filtration and very low chlorine to keep the water clean.
The whole place is terrifically clean, and I suffer none of the skin problems I usually encounter (burns, horrible rashes) in more chlorinated pools.
The pools are part of a larger centre run by the YMCA, and full gym + pool memberships are available. Pool access only is also available.
